Red Ribbon Week Activities- October 28th-31st

Mineral Wells ISD students and staff are participating in National Red Ribbon Week. The Red Ribbon has become a symbol of the nation’s fight against illegal drugs. Red Ribbon Week is observed to promote drug awareness and prevention. Throughout Red Ribbon Week, MWISD schools host activities designed to reinforce the drug-free message. Students will participate in age-appropriate activities that remind them of the dangers of drug use and unite them in a stand against illegal drugs.

Lamar 1st Six Weeks Character Kids

At Lamar Elementary we believe that character counts, so every six weeks teachers choose one student from their class who exhibits the six pillars of character. Students are recognized for their trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship. Students selected for the first six weeks were honored in front of their parents, received a nice letter from their teacher, and enjoyed popcorn to celebrate.

Lamar Read-In

In an effort to promote literacy and to encourage reading aloud to children at least 3 times a week, Lamar Elementary joined with the H-E-B Read 3 program and other Texas schools to celebrate National Literacy Month by stopping to read for 30 minutes on Friday, September 27th.
